Old Town's narrow streets and restricted-access areas can make a taxi pickup hurried, but installation should never be rushed. Arrange a restraint before the vehicle arrives, choose a legal pickup point with room to work, and follow the exact child-seat and vehicle manuals. If the driver or vehicle differs from the booking, reassess compatibility from the beginning.
Book with complete details
Provide the child's height, weight, and age, plus luggage and stroller size. Ask whether the service supplies the seat or expects you to bring one, the exact restraint type, and whether the vehicle has ISOFIX. Confirm the meeting point because cars may not be able to stop at a pedestrian-only hotel entrance. Keep the dispatcher's contact available.
Install using an approved route
For ISOFIX, connect only to marked lower anchors and complete the required support-leg or top-tether step. For a belt installation, route the belt through the correct colored guides, remove slack as instructed, and check the buckle position. Do not use ISOFIX and the belt together unless the manual permits that setup. Never attach a tether to a luggage hook.
Fit the child
Remove bulky coats, seat the child fully back, position head support and harness at the instructed height, and tighten flat webbing snugly. For a booster, verify lap and shoulder belt placement and free retraction. A rear-facing seat must not sit before an active frontal airbag. Use rear seating positions allowed by both manuals whenever possible.
Know when to refuse
Do not travel if the promised seat is absent, clearly damaged, outside the child's limits, missing required parts, or incompatible with the car. A legal taxi exemption, if applicable, does not fix those problems. Use a confirmed replacement vehicle, suitable public transport, or another safe arrangement. Allowing extra airport time makes refusal possible without panic.
