Prague winter comfort depends on wind, damp, time outside, and frequent moves into heated trams or museums, not simply the forecast temperature. Use adjustable layers and short outdoor stages with reliable warming stops. Check the baby often and seek individual clinical advice for newborns, premature babies, or health conditions affected by temperature.

Layer for adjustment

Use a comfortable base, insulating mid-layer, and weather-resistant outer layer appropriate to conditions, plus suitable head, hand, and foot coverage. Avoid sweating, which can cool the child later. Check the chest or back and general behavior rather than relying only on hands or cheeks. Replace wet clothing promptly.

Use stroller warmth correctly

A model-compatible footmuff can reduce loose layers if it does not alter harness fit or reach the wheels. A ventilated rain cover blocks wind and rain but can also trap warmth and moisture, so check frequently and open or remove it indoors. Keep the face uncovered and never seal the stroller with blankets.

Change the setup for cars

Bulky coats and padded suits can leave dangerous harness slack in a car seat. Secure the child in thinner layers, tighten flat straps according to the manual, then place a blanket over the secured harness if appropriate. Do not put unapproved liners or padding behind the child. Warm the car reasonably without overheating and remove the blanket as needed.

Make the itinerary winter-sized

Alternate outdoor sights with known indoor stops and avoid long stationary queues. Riverside wind, Petřín, and castle courtyards can feel colder than sheltered streets. Ice changes stroller safety; choose cleared routes and public transport instead of steep lanes. Check weather and attraction hours each morning, and return indoors early if the child or adult becomes uncomfortable.

Carry one dry base layer in a sealed bag and replace it after a leak, spill, or unexpected wet-weather delay rather than adding warmth over damp clothing.
