Adding "child seat" to a Prague Airport car booking does not necessarily reserve a particular model or guarantee that it will fit your child well. Car fleets and accessory stock change, especially during busy periods. Ask precise questions before travel, keep a safe fallback, and allow collection time to inspect both the restraint and the substituted vehicle.
Reserve with measurements
Provide each child's current height, weight, and age. Ask how the rental company categorizes infant, toddler, and booster seats, whether a rear-facing option is available, and if the model can be confirmed. Record the request and any fee in the booking. An accessory request may remain subject to availability, so read what the confirmation actually promises.
Prepare for a different car
A reserved vehicle class can result in a different make or model. Confirm the replacement has the needed ISOFIX positions, top-tether anchors, rear-seat width, and boot space. Three restraints across one row are particularly vehicle-specific. If using a support leg, check the vehicle manual for floor-storage restrictions. Do not accept an upgrade that creates an installation problem.
Inspect the seat
Look for the approval label, instructions, correct inserts, intact shell, untwisted harness, working buckle, and all required base components. Ask about the company's collision and withdrawal process; visual inspection cannot reveal every structural problem. Decline a dirty, damaged, incomplete, or unsuitable seat. Photograph the accessory condition if the rental terms treat it as part of the vehicle inventory.
Install before leaving
Use both manuals and take the time to understand indicators, belt routing, support leg, top tether, recline, and airbag status. The adult accepting the car remains responsible for a correct setup even if staff assist. Fit the child without bulky outerwear and recheck after a short drive. If the seat cannot be installed as approved, return to the desk rather than driving to the hotel.
