Rental is convenient, buying can be cheaper over time, and bringing equipment from home may cost nothing beyond airline baggage. There is no universal budget winner. Compare the full period, the safety importance of the product, the time needed to shop, and what you will do with a purchase when you leave Prague.
When rental makes sense
Short stays, bulky products, and uncertain future need favor rental. A stroller, travel cot, or high chair can be collected for defined dates and returned without resale. Rental may also provide a clear contact for a mechanical problem. Ask for the total including deposit, accessories, collection travel, extensions, and damage terms. Convenience has value, but it should be visible in the comparison.
When buying may be better
For several months, a suitable new or carefully assessed secondhand item may cost less. Buying also gives you control over model choice and continuous access. Add delivery, assembly, returns, and eventual resale or donation to the calculation. Secondhand safety equipment needs special caution: unknown car-seat history, missing labels, recalls, or absent instructions can make an apparent bargain unsuitable.
What is worth bringing
Bring compact, child-specific items that are difficult to replace, such as a familiar carrier or medically advised feeding equipment. Check airline allowances before assuming a stroller or car seat travels free. Protect checked items and understand the airline's damage procedure. Do not bring bulky equipment merely because you own it if it is poorly suited to stairs and cobbles.

- Value shopping, collection, and resale time.
- Check accommodation storage and lift access.
- Give safety and fit priority over a small saving.
For consumables such as diapers, buying locally is normally more logical; for occasional bulky gear, rental often deserves a quote.
