Trams are often the most direct way to cross central Prague with a stroller, especially where the metro would require a long lift detour. The network mixes low-floor and older high-floor vehicles, however, and a scheduled accessible service can change. Use live Prague Integrated Transport information, allow time to wait, and never let itinerary pressure turn boarding into an unsafe lift.
Find a suitable service
Timetables and journey planners mark planned low-floor connections with an accessibility symbol. Confirm the symbol for the individual departure rather than assuming an entire route is step-free. Temporary diversions, replacement buses, and vehicle substitutions occur. At the stop, stand where the designated stroller door will be reachable without blocking other passengers.
Board and exit deliberately
Let passengers leave, signal the driver if local instructions require it, and use the marked wide door. Keep full control of the stroller across the platform gap. If steps or a difficult gap make boarding unsafe, wait for another vehicle or ask one capable adult for controlled help. Do not have several people lift different parts while the child remains unsecured.
Use the stroller space
Move to the designated area, apply the parking brake, hold the stroller, and keep doors and aisles clear. Follow signs and driver instructions about orientation. Remove heavy bags from the handle if they make the stroller unstable. During busy periods, a compact setup helps, but do not fold a stroller while holding a child unless you can do so safely and without losing control.
Plan for Prague-specific obstacles
Stops may sit on a traffic island, at pavement level, or in the roadway. Check before stepping into a cycle lane or traffic. Tram rails are also a walking hazard: cross them at a clear angle so small wheels do not become trapped. Save an alternate route with a low-floor bus or metro lift, and check disruption notices before the return journey.
